Alys Raine

Alys Raine

Description

By her eighth birthday, Alys Raine had recited the entirety of the Common Law in one sitting and had already started her memorization of the seven treaties devoted to it. Always preferring her studies to the long hours of combat training, only her dream of one day becoming a Marshal kept her going. Now, a rising star among her comrades, the name Alys Raine drives fear into the hearts of the unjust throughout all of Terrinoth. A Marshal of the Citadel is a master of both combat and knowledge, bringing justice everywhere it is needed. In the field, they serve as judge, jury, and executioner and exercise their duties with passion and haste.

Orkell the Swift

Orkell the Swift

Description

Orkell the Swift was once a bandit, exulting in the excitement of his daring raids and the glory of battle and bloodshed. One fateful day, a child’s cry caused Orkell to look over the devastation he left behind, and he saw what he had refused to see before in the suffering of his victims. Since that day, Orkell has been a changed man. Ever ready to hurl himself into the fray, he now does so to defend the helpless, bringing swift brutality to any meaning them harm.

Pathfinder Durik

Pathfinder Durik

Quote

“The ways I know are dangerous, and I tread them carefully. I advise you do the same…”

Description

From the earliest times in his life, Durik has been far more comfortable in the wilderness than in any town or village. To him, nothing can beat soft grass underfoot and a cool breeze under a starry night sky. As such, he’s proven himself time and again as a valuable tracker and guide, easily able to find shelter and sustenance in the least hospitable places,
to discover a safe travel path in the darkest night, and to defend himself and his charges against the deadly perils of the wild.

Reynhart the Worthy

Quote

“I’ve been known to lose, but never to give up!”

Description

Descended from a long line of Daqan knights, Reynhart was destined for a glorious career in service to the Citadel. He became a squire for Sir Nessly at the exceptionally young age of nine, and was already competing in melees before his eleventh birthday. Yet, tragedy was overdue for young Reynhart. As he prepared Sir Nessly’s armor for a joust at Baron Zachareth’s annual tourney, he witnessed a cloaked stranger sneaking into his master’s tent, chisel in hand. Reynhart knew what the man was about, as sabotaging a knight’s armor before a joust was a common ploy implemented by unworthy, treacherous knights. Reynhart drew his sword and mortally wounded the man—who turned out to be Zachareth’s cousin and royal treasurer. Reynhart was forced to flee the tourney or face the block of his crime. Since then he has sold his sword and kept his head low, waiting for a day that he might take his vengeance on Zachareth.

Syndrael

Quote

“You swear undying loyalty, yet you are mortal. What can you know of commitment?”

Description

Having sworn her blade to the service of Lady Tyviel, Syndrael found herself a scant century later in the awkward position of having her patron named and exiled as a traitor to the Latari elves. Lady Tyviel had the decency to formally released her subjects from their oaths, but Syndrael still found herself with no welcome throughout the Aymhelin. Having concluded that her lady could not be a traitor, Syndrael has followed her into exile. She now travels throughout Terrinoth, upholding the ideals of the Latari as she seeks her lady and an explanation for her fate.

Grisban the Thirsty

Quote

“All this killing is thirsty work. Drink with me!”

Description

At first glance, Grisban’s story is an old and familiar one. A dwarf from Dunwarr, Grisban has left the mountains to travel through Terrinoth, making his way as a mercenary. His skill with an axe is undeniable and his love of good, strong beer memorable. An oft-repeated joke (oft-repeated by Grisban, at least), is that no one is certain if his name should be “Grisban the Bloodthirsty” or “Grisban the Beer-thirsty”. Consensus seems to have settled on simply “the Thirsty.” Grisban drinks with a will and fights with a terrible rage, both seeming to hint at a darker reason for leaving his home than he has yet been willing to share.

Errata and FAQ Version 1.0

Grisban’s hero ability should read, “Each time you perform a rest action, you may immediately discard 1 Condition card from yourself.”
